I Dwell In Possibility
Hi, I’m Angel Scott-Bottoms, and I dwell in possibility. That mantra I’ve used for decades is a line from one of my favourite poems by Emily Dickinson. When we work together, I will help you see the possibilities, too.
If you had met me as a teenager, you might have thought, “Oh, she’s very outgoing and friendly.” And I was. But what you couldn’t have seen was how much anxiety I was feeling or how much shame I carried around with me every day. I grew up hiding a rare congenital difference from a condition known as Poland Syndrome. I understand firsthand what it feels like to keep parts of yourself hidden and the pain that can cause. I also know how exhausting it can be to actively hide something about yourself and how lonely it can feel when you think no one knows the real you.
Thanks to my personal development and psychotherapy journey, I also know the joy that comes from accepting oneself, being vulnerable, and connecting with openness and authenticity. I would love to help you experience that joy, too.
So many of us feel shame, and too many of us think we need to hide something. It might be addiction, abuse, trauma, body image, family dysfunction, mental health issues - or any number of other things. Even extroverted, outwardly successful people with seemingly full lives can feel broken. They can feel shame and fear of acceptance.
If anything I am saying resonates with you, you are not alone.
How am I qualified to help you?
I have spent my life mentoring, teaching, and coaching people at many stages of their lives. I’ve taught English in Japan and the US and owned and operated children’s businesses in the US and UK, working with parents, babies and toddlers. I’ve also spent years working as a small business coach, helping people’s dreams become reality. I have loved all of these roles and being able to help people in significant ways through the years. Continuing to do so on a deeper level through psychotherapy practice is an honour and a privilege. I hold the vulnerability of my clients as a serious responsibility and will work to make sure you feel comfortable and safe.
I am, of course, trained, registered, and experienced:
Member of the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy / UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered (advanced trainee member) / Climate Psychology Alliance registered / Working towards a Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7) in Integrative Transactional Analysis recognised by the UKCP (graduation July 2025)
